We all work in the learning sector, right? We are focused on and, I'm sure, all dedicated to helping our students learn languages and skills to prepare them for a bright future and / or zo master their current workplace challenges. But what of our own learning? Are we as dedicated to our own develop,ent as we encourage our students to be to theirs? What new skills have we developed in the past 12 monhts? How do we wish to develop ourselves in future and why? Then there's the "how" of learning. Which resources do we instinctively tap into and are there other options we could explore? Are there ways of optimising our learning and making sure we actually apply our newly developed competencies in our professional and private lives? We will examine these questions in the context of motivation theory, the 70-20-10 approach, which maintains that only 10% of learning should come from formal education or training, Timothy Gallway's 'Inner Game' philosophy and Jmaes Clear's Atomic Habits. There will also be other practical tips that we can use to optimise our learning and development.
